LA County Fair Preview 2014
It's that time of year again! Fair time! SoCal natives all know that the best fair around is the Los Angeles County Fair. The OC Fair is fun, but it just doesn't have as much going on as the LA one. I was so excited to be invited to preview the LA Fair before it opened to the public. It was so nice to be able to check out all the new displays and sculptures before the mad rush started. The intimate affair was so nice. The entrance to the lanterns was gorgeous! Mind blowing! On the red carpet for the media event.
The larger than life lanterns were actually hand made by 9th generation artisans from Sichuan. The theme for this year was Luminasia. There were zodiac lanterns, a Mid-Autumn Festival lantern, various animal and flower lanterns, as well as lanterns of landmarks from all over the world. The lanterns lit up the hillside. For once, I wasn't playing close attention to the food because I was so enamored with the decor! You know that doesn't happen often! Absolutely stunning! One of my favorite foods from the media preview for LA County Fair was the Funnel Cake Sausage Dog from Juicy's. It was like breakfast on a stick, but better!
By the end of the time I left, this was what the gate looked like. The lights look even better the darker it gets. I had such a great time at the preview event. It was like I got on a plane and went around the world and back with all the various landmarks from around the world. I'm still so surprised by how well executed the theme was. The fair was fun and so entertaining. It would be the perfect date place too-very family friendly. I wish my nephew was in town because I would totally take him there. For now, I'll just have to come back with friends and other family members to enjoy more of the food options. Who doesn't love fair food? It's like guilty pleasure once a year. Actually, I take it back. I would go back just to look at the lights!
The LA County Fair will be in town until September 28th. You can check out their website to find out more info! Let me know what you think of the lantern displays and the food!
Thank you LA County Fair for having me! I'll be back soon!
