My Dining Report is Out!
My latest Dining Report is officially out on Eater LA, and I had to give a special shout-out to Monolith Coffee, which recently soft-opened in Alhambra. One of the reasons I’m so excited about their opening is what it represents for the region.
The SGV is often pigeonholed as a place people only associate with traditional food or "cheap" eats—a misconception that couldn't be further from the truth. For too long, residents from the Westside, the Valley, and beyond have lived in their own bubbles, rarely considering a venture out to the SGV. To me, Monolith represents the "new blood" of small businesses that are finally drawing people out of those respective LA enclaves. They are bringing a new demographic to the area that will hopefully stay to explore and learn more about these amazing communities. It’s about more than just coffee; it’s about breaking those bubbles and inviting everyone to see what the SGV is truly about.
