Hello Kitty Pop-Up Cafe Opens in Irvine
Followers of my blog may remember me flying across the world in an all Hello Kitty airplane, eating Hello Kitty shaped food, or being one of the first to cover the inaugural Hello Kitty Convention, and now I’m here introducing you to the first Hello Kitty Café on the West Coast! The Hello Kitty Café is a pop-up container restaurant that will be at the Irvine Spectrum in Orange Country for the next year.
I was lucky enough to be invited to preview the space with some local media and influencers before they officially opened up to the public. It was, as expected, tres kawaii! The unit is an actual shipping container that has been converted into a kitchen. It's the first container kitchen in the food service industry in Orange County.
How adorable are the hot drinks? They come in these pink cups. The hot chocolate and the lattes have Hello Kitty latte art on top. Even the sugar packets and the napkins are Hello Kitty. The cold drinks come in a different cup. Here's the strawberry iced tea. Good, but a tad sweet. Be sure to tell them to go easy on the sugar! The desserts were adorable. The best part was that they were tasty as well. Thank goodness because we all know how cute things sometimes don't taste so great!
The Hello Kitty Cafe also plans on continuously brining in new items to keep enticing customers to return. Here I am interviewing David Marchhi, Sanrio's VP of Brand Management and Marketing. Why, yes I am wearing a Hello Kitty headband. Who said work attire has to suck?
