Milkshake Mondays & Nat'l Donut Day at PLAN CHECK
Who doesn't love Plan Check? Plan Check has been a staple of mine the last two years especially since former Umami Burger Corporate Executive Chef, Ernesto Uchimura is in charge of the reins in their kitchens. I've been a long time patron of the Fairfax and Sawtelle locations, so I was ecstatic when I was asked to come into the Downtown location and try out their new milkshakes as part of Market Milk Shake Mondays.
Love the minimalist decor! As part of the summer Market Milkshake Monday, every week will feature a new unique flavor based on what the freshest ingredients are the chef can find at the local farmer's market. Vanilla and Chocolate flavors will be available every week, but the third mystery flavor will constantly be changing. 
It's a hard job, but someone has to do all the milkshake testing. Am I right? Gloating aside, I was there to put my tastebuds to the test.
This week's special flavor was Strawberry and Rose topped with a rose petal and rose sugar cubes on top.
I loved the Vanilla and the Chocolate. The milkshake was thick and not too watery. The whipped cream on top brought everything together. Perfect shake! Although you can never go wrong with classics like Chocolate and Vanilla, the Strawberry Rose stole the show hands down. The strawberry flavor didn't taste artificial like it sometimes does in malts or milkshakes from other eateries. The petal was decorative and edible. The best part was the rose sugar. So delicious! They were like naturally flavored and sugary pop rocks!
Here's what a full size order of the milkshakes look like! They are $8 each. I highly recommend going to Plan Check each Monday and checking out what's in store for the day. The Strawberry Rose was so unique. Can't wait to see what they have planned next week. In addition to checking out the new milkshakes on the Plan Check menu, I also stayed for dinner. The cool thing is that every Plan Check has specials that only that particular location has to offer. I ended up ordering Plan Check Downtown's special K-BBQ Burger. The K-BBQ burger comes with a grilled pork belly, kimchee, sprouting onions, Gochujang BBQ sauce, sesame salt, and fried onions. I paired my burger with an order of Pastrami Gravy Fries with pastrami bits, pastrami gravy, melted Swiss cheese, and chopped pickles. And of course for dessert, you can't go to Plan Check without ordering a cruller donut! 
Plan Check's donuts are made-to-order and served with fresh fruit and cream. And guess what? In honor of National Donut Day (June 5th), they will be offering their famous donuts at each of their locations for only $2. Each location will have their own speciality. The Sawtelle location will be serving up a Root Beer Donut Float spiced cruller with vanilla bean ice cream, root beer float, and cookie straw! How amazing does that sound?
